Trout season is officially open and we have lots of killer fishing options right now. Hot Creek isn’t seeing a ton of snow melt yet, and on warmer days there are fish rising to caddis, blue winged olive duns, and small grey or olive midge dries. Some terrestrials starting to work on top as well. Fish here will take nymphs through most of the day, and will be munching on scuds, and even small streamers once the flows come up. Upper Owens has pods of fish rising to midges, caddies, mixture of mayflies throughout the day. Nymphing deep here w/ attractors can get you into some big bows and browns.. cutthroat will be in the mix soon. East Walker is solid fishing but beyond crowded. If you go, it’s time to explore below the miracle mile to avoid crowds. Good time to hire a guide and find some great water up there that doesn’t get obliterated with pressure…
